Today I started using the content editor for SchoolRooms to put the content I found for the Metamorphosis room on the website. Amanda gave me a manual and some basic instructions on how to add content modules. After she showed me how to login, she let me play around with the program and get familiar with it. I started right away by adding my first module – Change Your Inside. It took me about half an hour to figure out how to add the module correctly, leading to a few ‘lost’ modules that I saved and couldn’t find afterwards. Once I got the first one on the page, I started to ‘get the hang of it’ and was able to add two more modules quickly. Changing the color scheme of the module was fairly easy as well after reading Amanda’s instructions. Next, I tried an interactive module for the Fun and Games area. This module has space for a little picture next to each entry, but I don’t have pictures yet. I left the pictures blank for now, and I will look for some after I’m finished adding the text. I also created a module for ‘Who’s That?’ and one for ‘Cool Links.’

After talking with Amanda about what I’ve done so far today, I made a little to-do list to remind me of some changes I’m thinking about making. Some of the sentences that describe the module or a drop down menu choice look a little long and wordy on the page. I will go back and shorten some of those. Also, I need to, like I mentioned before, look for pictures to add. Amanda did mention that sometimes the pictures look squished in some types of modules, so I will watch out for that. Also, I need to think about a main introductory page for the Metamorphosis room to come before the drop down menus page. I think that will be a fun one to make if I add something exciting, like a slideshow or video. Amanda also gave me a print out from a Rooms training that includes some neat tricks for making a room look interesting.

Other than that, I had a few minutes when I first arrived that I used to review a little more content. I clicked through a few links in the Elementary – Earth Science room and found two errors. I sent the error report to Amanda.
